Board of Directors

Colleen English, President and Founder

Colleen founded the Rettland Foundation because of the impact that her daughters Claire and Chloe have had on her. Claire bravely chose to participate in clinical research for Rett Syndrome as she wants nothing more than a little more freedom in her body. Chloe boldly dreams of what life with a little less Rett can be like. They have loads of fun together reading silly stories and listening to music.

With a background in the hospitality industry and a degree in Culinary Arts from the Arizona Culinary Institute, Colleen took her experience as a wife, mom and advocate and created the Rettland Foundation to make the process of clinical trials easier on families.

Erica Robertson, Vice President

Erica is currently the Program Coordinator for Katie’s Clinic for Rett Syndrome & related disorders at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. A graduate of George Mason University, she has a background in social work. Erica is a wife and mother to two wonderful kids. Avery has Rett Syndrome, amazing dimples and loves to listen to Mumford & Sons and Taylor Swift. Nolan loves playing baseball, basketball and is overwhelmingly compassionate and loving to his big sister.

Erica enjoys reading, blogging and down time with friends in the wine country. She brings a wealth of information to the Rettland team along with unparalleled enthusiasm for advancing research for Rett Syndrome.

Ryan Layton, CFO and Treasurer

Ryan is currently living in Iowa working as a Project Manager for John Deere. After studying finance and Chinese at Brigham Young University he graduated with a B.S. in 2006 and headed up to the Bay Area. There he worked for Duff & Phelps, a valuation advisory firm specializing in providing various valuation services to technology companies. In 2013 he graduated with an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Along the way he has had his lovely wife Maren by his side and they have three adorable daughters. Their oldest Leah has Rett Syndrome and loves to watch basketball with her dad. Ryan enjoys road biking, sports and time with his kids.

Sarah Bogosian, Secretary

Sarah has temporarily traded in the corporate world for Matchbox cars and worm hunts with her two young boys.  She has a BA in Communication and has spent more than 10 years helping to grow small companies. Sarah has a background in human resources and marketing management as well as experience handling all aspects of corporate and legal affairs with start-ups. When she’s not planning Bay Area adventures with her family, you can find her experimenting in the kitchen, crafting and blogging.

A number of years ago Sarah met a very special family who introduced her to Rettland. She’s excited to advocate for Rett Syndrome and eager to provide greater support to families throughout their journey.

Catriona Moore

Catriona lives in London and has a background in policy and communications in the not-for-profit sector. She has a Masters degree in Public Policy and currently works part-time in the policy team of the National Autistic Society in the UK.

Catriona thought she knew a lot about how public services work, until her younger  daughter Amy was diagnosed with Rett syndrome in 2009 and the world turned upside down. Now eight years old, Amy is a little girl with a big determination to be heard.

Catriona supports fundraising for Rett research while making services better for children with disabilities now. She is impatient for clinical trials to begin in the UK.

Jared English

Jared graduated with his BA from Arizona State University in 2004 and then moved up to the bay area to take a position with Ducati North America. Still with the same company, he is currently the sales support manager and can do amazing things with Excel. He is married to Colleen and loves her enough to believe in her crazy dreams and is lending his professional support as well as taking on extra life stuff to free her up to do it. Jared is a dedicated father to Claire and Chloe and has been known to wear sandals, even when his toe nails have been painted purple glitter. In his few minutes of free time Jared enjoys mountain biking and tide pools.
